Her dad's name is Amardeep, who is a businessman and contractor, her mom, Asha, is a school-teacher. She has two sisters, eldest one is Rangoli, and she has a brother, Akshit, who is about a year younger than her. Her grandfather was an IAS Officer. Kangna Ranaut comes from the hill town of Manali in Himachal Pradesh. She did her schooling from Shimla. Studying as a science student in Shimla, Kangna had never thought that one day she would work in a film under a reputed banner in Bollywood. But she did harbour a dream of acting, a dream that brought her to Delhi where she learnt acting while doing theatre

Then Kangna took another step and came to Mumbai to try her luck in films. Her lucky break did not come straightaway, but after a while when Kangna had already tried unsuccessfully to make an entry into the tinsel town

It happened in September 2005, when Kangna was drinking coffee with one of her friends at a café in Mumbai. Filmmaker Anurag Basu , who had already directed a successful film, Murder , was keeping an open eye for the heroine of his next movie Gangster .

It was there Basu spotted Kangna and called her for the audition. Despite the fact that Kangna is not from a filmi background and has no real acting experience, Basu decided to cast her in his film. The rest, as they say, is history...........

Amrita Rao’s birthday is on the 7th of June. She was born in 1981 in Mumbai. Her father is Deepak Rao who runs an advertising agency. Her mother tongue is Konkani.
She studied at C.G. High School and later graduated with a degree in Psychology from Sophia College.

Her first brush with the cameras was when she worked in the Fairever Face Cream ad while still in college. It was followed by Nestle Bru Coffee, Cadbury’s Perk, Close-Up, Parachute Hair Oil, Domino’s Pizza, Wriggly’s Chewing Gum, Pantene and Clean & Clear facewash, to name a few. She’s also the brand ambassador for D’Damas gold jewelry. It was hardly surprising that she was noticed by Ken Ghosh who offered her a role in Ishq Vishq.

Amrita’s debut was with Raj Babbar’s son, Arya Babbar, in Ab Ke Baras which released in 2002 followed by a cameo in The Legend of Bhagat Singh. She shot to stardom in 2003 with the release of Ishq Vishq with Shahid Kapoor, and she won a nomination for the Filmfare Best Debut Award for her role as struck-by-cupid Payal Mehra.

In 2004, she was part of the multi-starrer Main Hoon Na with Shah Rukh Khan, Zayed Khan and Sushmita Sen. She was nominated for the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award. Her films in 2005, Vaah! Life Ho Tho Aisi and Shikhar didn’t get a good reception at the box office. Vivah in 2006, with Shahid Kapoor, became one of the biggest commercial successes of the year.

Her 2008 releases include My Name is Anthony Gonsalves with Mithun Chakraborthy, Lilette Dubey and Nikhil Dwivedi which didn’t do well. Her performance as Kamala in Shyam Benegal’s comedy Welcome to Sajjanpur was praised and the film enjoyed rave reviews.

Bollywood didn’t see a lot of Amrita Rao in 2007, except for a brief appearance in a song in Heyy Babyy. She did a Telugu film Athidhi with Mahesh Babu, which was a big success down south.....

"I got to beat MARK up with my little gun, which was fun - he cried a little bit. I'm sure I saw a few tears." MILA KUNIS impressed her MAX PAYNE co-star MARK WAHLBERG with her shooting skills as she prepared to play an assassin in the movie adaptation of the video game.

Actress MILA KUNIS' passion for baseball almost got her ejected from the Los Angeles Dodgers' play-off game against the Philadelphia Phillies last week (15Oct08) when her cursing upset the parents of a 10-year-old boy.
Kunis, a Dodgers fan, was so upset by the efforts of her team, who were knocked out of baseball's post-season by the Phillies, she couldn't hold her tongue.
And she had some apologising to do when one family, sitting within earshot of her, were offended by her bad language.
The actress explains, "The kid turns around and his parents turn around and I was like, 'I'm so sorry, but come on.'
"They were like, 'OK, weirdo.'"
Kunis insists cool Dodgers fans could learn a lot from trash-talking New York Yankees supporters: "It's not necessarily that I'm for the Yankees... but the fans are so amazing... I feel at home, they're my people.
"Everybody at Dodgers Stadium... was on their BlackBerries."

MARK WAHLBERG was left battered and bruised on the set of new action film MAX PAYNE because his co-star MILA KUNIS beat him up for real during the fight scenes.
The actor's title character scraps with Kunis' in the movie - and Wahlberg reveals his co-star wasn't acting when she laid into him.
He winces, "My motto is always 'hit and try not to be hit', which some of my castmembers didn't understand going in.
"Mila Kunis... I don't think she practiced very much with the billy club. Originally it was going to be a chain... and she whipped me with that a couple of times. And then she pulled out this baton and started slapping me with it, so I had to really be on my toes.
"You're supposed to miss by at least a foot (and) the angles will sell it."
But Kunis admits she found her fight scenes with Wahlberg very therapeutic: "I got a lot of my anger out."
