Why do you blog? Is it for fun or do you think you have something important to say?It is fun to blog. It is an outlet for which I can commit to writing when I am in a rut working on some fiction projects. It is an excuse to look through photos of attractive celebrities and watch old favorite television shows. Sometimes it is therapeutic. I am not pretentious enough to think I have anything important to say. Whatever I write about, it is on a whim. If I strike gold with it, good for me.
Blogging is a frivolous pastime. While I do not want to dismiss the big time bloggers who have a specialized knowledge or have gained a lot of media clout, the vast majority--me included--are small potatoes who ought not be too madly in love with their insight. There is a reason blogging is not usually one’s day job. Who would pay us for this stuff?
A blogger can often be like the crazy guy who walks into a city council meeting with charts and graphs loaded under his arms with the solution to all the world’s problems contained therein if we would all just listen to him. There is enough stigma burdening me without being branded that guy. So I do not take anything written for the Eye too seriously, and neither should you.
