A poll is up for this week after a hiatus of a couple weeks in which I came up empty on ideas. Mitt Romney gave me one this week, thereby proving he is good for something than state run healthcare in RINO clothing.

Romney refused to sign a pro-life pledge, although he claims to now be pro-life. I do not believe him. If a pro-life republican was running for Massachusetts governor against a pro-choice parakeet, the bird would win in a landslide because it had successfully passed the litmus test for enlightenment. In its defense, the bird would probably still make a better president than Barack Obama.

Romney is Bnking on the economy being such a big issue in the 2012 election that social issues will be all but irrelevant. Rudy Giuliani is thinking the same thing. Every candidate who is thinking they can either pay lip service to social conservatism or ignore it all together is planning to paint social conservative primary opponents as crazy.

Will it work? The Tea Party has shown willingness to compromise on social issues because the economy is plummeting into the abyss, but they have not done so in all cases. There is still much value placed on social conservatism as a mark of character. So here is the question--do conservative social values matter in the 2012 election?
