Have you ever noticed in ESB Luke spends months with Yoda at the same time the Millennium Falcon is on the run for days, yet they meet up in the end?

I have never gotten the impression Luke spent months with Yoda. There was an emphasis at the time he was stubborn and impulsive, so he was likely to leave on a whim to save his friends once he got the vision they were in trouble. Having only trained in the force the few days the Millennium Falcon was on the run gave the audience more tension that he could be seduced by gaining the more rapid abilities of the dark side.

That is essentially what happened. Between ESB and ROTJ, Luke started wearing all black, had a better mastery of powers without consulting Yoda on them, and generally had a more sinister demeanor. We were supposed to get the impression he was teetering on the edge, but the rest of ROTJ was more about Darth Vader’s redemption instead.

The matter of Luke’s battle with losing himself to the dark side not being glossed over is more of a flaw than reconciling the two stories of ESB.
