I have so far avoided the whole Anthony Weiner scandal. There was no way weiner was telling the truth about his Twitter account having been hacked, so it was only a matter of time before the truth came out. It was as certain as Weiner’s impending resignation will be, because anytime a politician says he will not resign, he will. Except for my former Gov. Mark Sanford, of course. He abandoned his duties to run off to Argentina to meet with his sweetie, but did not resign. He had a good excuse, though. He said he was ordained by God to be governor. He was pretty convincing actually. His protégé won her election to governor back in November. We did not like Sanford’s ice queen wife, either.
Does it really shock you these days to discover your politician is a pervert? The perversion is bipartisan and from both sexual orientations. bill Clinton gets oral sex from a young intern as just the latest in his sexual conquests. Larry Craig taps a guy’s foot in an airport bathroom seeking oral sex. John Edwards fathers a child while his wife is suffering from cancer. Newt Gingrich did the whole dumping his dying wife, too. Does anyone even remember the brief moment Bob Livingston was nearly Speaker of the House before his extramarital affair was exposed? Mark Foley wanted an intern to measure his penis. Barney Frank cavorts with male prostitutes. Chris Lee was looking for cross dressers online. David Vitter allegedly liked for his hookers to make him wear diapers. I could go on, but no.
I am confident this stuff is nothing new, but I miss the days when the worst I could envision is a Congressmen enjoying a tryst with his secretary. The Governator having an affair with his housekeeper actually sounds quaint. It is depressing to think their must be some connection between the drive that makes one want to be a public official and strange sexual urges, but can you deny there is with all the circumstantial evidence? What other dark sexual secrets are out there in the political realm for Andrew Breitbart to dig up? Could we convince him to leave them there?
