What is it in man or woman that propels them one way or the other? Is it courage, self respect, respect from others? All are different but my propulsion fuel is purpose. It’s the purpose of duty to our country and to my fellow man in struggle. I aloYou also forgot there is a character limit for Formspring. Yoou will have to be less wordy in testifying in the future. I am going to assume your opening question is the one for which you want an answer. If something highly relevant got cut off, feel free to add it into another question.
I think you are being too specific in speculating what motivates men and women to do the things they do. Take a step back to look at the broader picture. People are motivated by desire. They do things to get what they want, feel what they want, or receive the result they want.
If your motivation is purpose, then I would speculate you want to feel useful or important. Maybe altruistic. Only you know for certain. If anyone want to know what really drives them, he must honestly answer the frequently dangerous question, "What do I reallly want?"
